How to travel with weapons and ammunition in Copenhagen Airport.

 


What does weapons cover?

Weapons and ammunition include the following:

  • Pistols, revolvers, stun guns, etc.
  • Air and CO2-powered firearms such as air pistols, pellet guns, air rifles, and air shotguns
  • Firearms that shoot steel balls, signal guns, starting pistols and crossbows
  • Rifles that fire harpoons, spears, slings, or blowguns
  • Replicas and imitations of firearms and ammunition
  • Ammunition such as cartridges, grenades, bullets, rockets, etc.

Requirements for traveling with weapons

  • Valid weapons permit
  • The weapon must be unloaded
  • The weapon must be disassembled if possible, and vital parts must be packed separately
  • The weapon must be packed in a locked hard case
  • The quantity of ammunition is below 5 kg, properly packed in original packaging
  • Weapon oil is in its original packaging and without hazard symbols

Here's how you do it

1. Arrive at the airport well in advance, as the process of traveling with weapons may take extra time.

2. Upon arrival at the airport, proceed to the check-in counter for your airline in Terminal 2 or Terminal 3. This information can be found on the information boards in the terminals.

3. Inform the airline staff that you are carrying weapons and ammunition.

4. Present a valid weapons permit and other travel documents. You will then be provided with the necessary documents and baggage tags, which you need to bring to the weapon check at the security checkpoint.

 

Security firearms check

5. After check-in, proceed to the weapon check. In Terminal 3, it is located next to counter 50, just to the left of the arrivals area.

6. Here, ring the bell and you will be greeted by security checkpoint staff who will verify that you meet all the requirements for traveling with weapons.

7. Once your weapon check is approved, you can proceed directly to the security checkpoint.

There may be various restrictions when traveling with weapons. Therefore, we recommend that you arrive well in advance.
