Transitioning to circularity

We want to operate and develop Copenhagen Airports with respect for the earth’s finite resources. Our target is to be a circular airport by 2050 and we are developing plans to ensure we reach our target. The general goals and principles for how we intend to work with circularity have been defined and now, we develop and implement two-year action plans for each of four workstreams. 2030 is our first milestone on the path towards circularity, with one of the targets being a recycling rate of 60%.

Waste sorting
at the shopping centre

As a first step towards circularity, all passengers are now invited to sort their waste in fractions at Copenhagen Airport Shopping Centre (CASC).

Rethinking our use of textiles

The TRACE partnership aims to support Denmark in reaching its national climate goals for plastics and textiles by 2050. The partners comprise universities, knowledge institutions, and both public and private companies.

Copenhagen Airports is involved in the partnership's textiles track. We focus on the procurement of textiles for our own staff and how we can contribute to transitioning towards better alternatives to the textiles we currently purchase. This includes testing how alternative textiles made from recycled fibres perform in an operational setup.
