DECARBONISATION

Having net zero as our destination

Airports have an important role to play in decarbonising the aviation sector. Although it is a huge task with many unknowns, Copenhagen Airports' goal is to achieve net zero emissions across all our activities in 2050. We are actively mitigating the climate impact of our own operations and developing a comprehensive strategy for reducing the emissions in our broader value chain.

Our path to a net zero airport

We are committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain by 2050.

By 2030, we will achieve net zero emissions from our own operations, buildings leased to other parties, ground handling and surface access transportation to and from the airport.

Get an overview of our net zero strategy and targets, and find more details in our net zero 2050 plan of the path we intend to follow.

Certified carbon management

Since 2019, Copenhagen Airport has been accredited in the international Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) scheme. Accredited airports are required to define long-term climate objectives, including within aviation, and present concrete plans on how to achieve them.

In 2022, we reached the then-highest level in the ACA scheme: Level 4+ Transition. We have maintained this accreditation level and now strive to achieve the new Level 5 which was introduced in 2023 as the topmost of seven levels of accreditation.

Collaborating towards net zero

Achieving net zero for any company is a huge task – but as an airport we need to rethink aviation completely to get there.

Therefore, we are partnering with key industry stakeholders to develop joint solutions and all be part of a net zero future.
